Faerie Cities

Faerieland may be separated (for ease of discussion) into divisions of cities or realms which tend to contain certain characteristic features. The best way to describe this is through the language of the four seasons/elements: Fire/Summer, Air/Spring, Water/Fall, Earth/Winter.

In order to more easily familiarize yourself with the faerie landscapes, it is recommended to study the "maps" page and in particular this video which provides a virtual guided tour of some of the core locations one might visit and experience upon traveling to faerie realms.

There is also a great deal of information to be found about these four cities and locations in Jeremy Garner's Books of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth - which describe firsthand visionary accounts that took place over a period of 40 days within each of the four faerie cities.

There are certain directions associated with each of these cities/seasons/elements - with Fire/Summer being associated to the South, Air/Spring to the East, Water/Fall to the West, and Earth/Winter to the North.

In early Irish writings we read of the Tuatha Dé Danann who have many connections to these faerie cities, known in these writings as "Findias", "Gorias", "Murias", and "Falias".

Each of these also has a connecting item with the sword (sometimes spear) being associated with Findias, the spear (sometimes sword) being associated with Gorias, the cauldron with Murias, and the stone with Falias. We see these four items and elements depicted on the tarot cards too with swords, wands, cups, and pentacles.

"Wind comes from the spring star in the East; fire from the summer star in the South; water from the autumn star in the West; wisdom, silence and death from the star in the North."
